Was reading a post on here about NFS and I thought of TDU. Damn I miss this game.

Oh jesus. I remember it looking so good, too.
Wasn’t the second one an absolute buggy mess?

I got the second one on Launch day.
What a colossal fuck up. Servers didn’t work at all, and it caused so many problems.
The worst part was, underneath the crappy servers, the handling model was awful and the game flopped hard.
Sucks alot, it had potential. I would have cruised everywhere with my friends.

After The Crew, I’m not sure I’m game for a big ass open world driving game. Too much empty space and there is always a race where you just end up banging the rev limiter for 20 minutes.

I wanted to try out TDU2, but it got crap reviews.
Watched some videos of the car buying mechanism, and I loved the level of detail they put into it!

True, but I love driving anywhere, especially to the beach for photoshoots lol.

Yeah that was one of the best things the TDU series got right.

TDU had some limitations but I’ll tell you driving around Oahu in a blue R34 GT-R was as close to a bucket list dream come true for me as any. I remember just hanging out in Honolulu enjoying the ambiance when an online player in a Mustang challenged me to a instant race. It was close and exciting but a mistake on his part gave me the edge to win and I was in love with the entire experience.
Picking up chicks for “quest” type missions, seeing your avatar behind the wheel, the garage aspect - man that game did a lot of things right.

Yeah TDU2 was shit lol. Invisible walls, flying cars, crap handling, server issues, savegame files corrupting, the list goes on and on.

Even the tiny tiny details like odometers, speedometers/tachometers, rolling up/down windows with electronic whirs and wind noises, cockpit view, and so on made me fall deeply in love with it. Turn off the HUD, go into cockpit view, and it’s like actually driving the car. Not sure, but I don’t think any other game at the time had cockpit views. At least not arcade racing games.

I love the idea of these games. In practise I think the handling needs to be improved, it was really strange. I’d love to see another game though.

...project Gotham is all like “hey guys remember me?”

It was an open world arcade racing game?

No but I was referring to the cockpit views

TDU 2 for Ps3 was alright. For free roaming only, the rest was kinda crap.
The Crew was fun for free roaming, but the rest was crap.
Do you see a trend here?
